The Post Graduate Department of Psychology was established in 2015 with Dr. Dimpy Mahanta as the Founding Head of the Psychology Department. The Department has been very active since its inception by taking numerous initiatives to create awareness amongst the public on various mental health related issues. Every Year the Department organizes workshops, street plays, lectures and seminars where students from different universities all across the state had actively participated in the past. The Psychology Department of Cotton University is the only department in the State Universities of Assam which offers Organizational Psychology as an area of specialization in Masters besides Clinical Psychology. The Department has also floated several elective papers of contemporary areas of psychology like Sports Psychology, Youth Psychology, Gero-Psychology, Positive Psychology, Community Psychology to name a few. Its vision is to stand out as one of the best departments offering Psychology in this entire North East region of India.
